    Commissioner Fountain moved the request of Howard W. Cannon, City Attorney for leave of absence without pay from August 16th until September 1, 1956, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Fountain moved the application of J. A. Ray, Las Vegas Hardware, 127 North 3rd Street for a permit to sell firearms be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Sharp moved the application of L. B. Scherer, Pioneer Club, 23 Fremont for license for one additional Poker game be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Bunker moved the application of Tom Rolofson for license for 2 slot machines at the Clark Dairy, 1006 North Main Street be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Bunker moved the application of C. R. Millhizer for renewal of 1 "21", 1 poker and 1 Craps at the Silver Club Cafe, 505½ Jackson be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Bunker moved the claim of Adele Kleiman for damages resulting from a fall in the street on the northwest corner of 5th and Fremont in the amount of $7500.00 be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Sharp moved the claim of Ann Falvey for damages resulting from a fall in the street on the northwest corner of 5th and Fremont in the amount of $3500.00 be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Fountain moved the claim of Thomas C. Henry for injury from a falling limb of a tree at 215 Wilson in the amount of $1,384.00 be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following Vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Fountain moved the claim of Ann Loney for injuries resulting from a fall in the street at the southeast corner of 3rd and Fremont in the total amount of $56,135.69 be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Bunker moved the claim of Max Y. Williamson for car damage at Charleston & Nellis Boulevards in the total amount of $647.13 be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker Fountain, Commissioner Sharp moved that Payroll Warrants Nos. 1943 through 2503 in the net amount of $74,785.39 be approved. Commissioner Bunker moved that Service & Material Warrants Nos. 7565 through 7734 and 7736 in the total amount of $405,633.34 be approved.
