July 7# 1950 V 23-1-3 Mr. C. V« Shelley C ity Manager Las Vegas* Nevada Osar Hr. Shelley* Please re fe r to my le t t e r A pril 17* w ith regard to placing 2 uniformed o ffic e r s on duly fo r the period May 1 to September 15* to enforce the City ordinance proh ibitin g the waste o f water. We have not yet received the M i l e covering their services for the months of May and Jims* Will you kindly havs thsso sent to ms for voucher. In this connection* the fore part of this year* a house-to-house check was made of each subdivision in the City to determine whether coolers and water cooled refrigeration machines were equipped with recapture devices as required by Chapter 37 of the Las Vegas Code. A copy of this report was furnished your office and also that of the City Clerk showing the exceptions noted. It was ay understanding that the Special Officers would systematically cheek each of the exceptions noted* (regarding which we notified each owner In writing.) Will be glad to learn the progress of this reoheck. Zt has been my observation that these officers are doing an excellent Job. fhe result of their efforts Is apparent from streets that wore never dry before which* In the long run, eaves the taxpayers considerable money in street repairs as well as the saving In water which wee previously wasted. However* the high Inflow at the new City Disposal Plant Indicates there Is still considerable missionary work to be done on the water cooled refrigeration machines in the business district* Vary truly yours* A.
