Las Vegas * - March 26, 1952 Mr. L. A. White - Omaha In May 1951 we received shipment of materials from Mueller Company, Los Angeles and issued Form V - 222 in amount 2#1%50*9? to cover Mueller Invoice 6753 in amount #154.05 less discount of $3*08* It later developed Mueller Company had shipped split tees In lieu of split sleeves as ordered, and the split tees were returned for credit. After considerable correspond*, ence, we received Credit Memorandum from Mueller Company and deducted #150.97 from Form 183- V-4 dated January 22, 1952 covering Mueller Company Invoice 1118, leaving a net balance of #432.20. Recently Mueller Company advised in part as follows: "Recently we received your check to the amount of #432.20, on which you Indicated a discount of #14*98, and deducted out credit memo #2220, dated May 31? 1951 to amount of #154,05. Our records indicate that we sent you our check in payment of this credit memo on October 31, 1951." In reply to our advice that we had no record of receipt of check of October 31, 1951, Mueller Company advises: "Our check was mailed to Las Vegas Land and Water Company, 422 West Sixth Street, Los Angeles 14, with the endorsement on the check being made to the Omaha National Bank, Omaha, Nebr. The Omaha National Bank’s endorsement appears on check under date of Nov. 8th, they having forwarded the instrument to the Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Los Angeles, their endorsement being dated Nov, 9th. The Farmers Bank acting as a clearing agent for the Omaha National Bank referred the check to the bank to which it was drawn, the Union Bank & Trust Company, Los Angeles, the cancellation date of that payment being Nov. 9th, The endorsement to the Omaha National Bank is a rubber stamp endorsement which is apparently an endorse-ment stamp used by all branches of your organization, the Las Vegas Land and Water Company being one of ten • companies shown on that rubber stamp," If your records confirm receipt of Mueller Company's check, presumably in amount of #154.05, will you please arrange for refund* W, H.
