58 PENDING TRACE A r % Water F a c ilitie s - Las Vegas< rt |/ t ^ c>- 1 N On L in e il^ f C i 5th, f~ *3^19*$ yX. °/ W .V H' V ’V Mr H A Williams; £l/ In connection with fu el Jhd water fa c ilit ie s fo r the 7000 class en gin es at Las Vegas, Kelscrand Yermo. In our l i s t o f recommendations fo r water and. o il f a c i l i ties to accomodate the 7000 class Engines, the intention was to have these engines take o il at Kelso, and, i f necessary. Carp* Our recommendations included new o il and water standpipes at Kelso, and two water standpipes at Yermo depot. We have not received authority to in s t a ll o il and water fa c ilit ie s at Kelso. Since the 7000 engines have been in service, they have been talcing o il at Yermo; there is a water spout at the same location, so they take o il and water at the same time. This means, however, a second stop fo r east bound trains and on west bound train s, the engine is cut o f f and takes o il and water, a l l o f which, represents more or less delay. I f it is desired that we continue this practice, I do not see the necessity for the in stallatio n of the two water stands at the Yermo depot, as there would be no need o f these two additional standpipes. W ill you please advise? cc: Mr A Maguire. A8SIS
