• « i / ; \ I Las Yegas, Uevada, July 1, 1907. Ilon.C. 0.Whitt emore, Los Angeles, California. Dear Sir,- On yesterday Mrs.Helen J.Stewart called on me with Her contract and said that sHe wished to notify me that she was not getting the required four inches of water on her ground. She claims that the four inches of water are to he delivered to her at the intersection of the ranch land with that of her1 s, and while we have been since the weir was put in, giving her daily and hourly the required four inches or even a little more, I am unable to say whether that full amount would reach her or not on account of the seepage and evaporation, Mr. Jessup and I personally made a thorough inspection of the entire matter yesterday afternoon and I would ask that you have him call upon you and make full explanation which will be much more satisfactory than I can write. Since the weir has been adjusted to the four inch measurement, Stewarts have been continuously digging out under the bottom of the weir and allowing a good bit more than the required amount to pass down, as it was found by Mr.Jessup yesterday, I had previously in the morning repaired the weir and it was again opened up along about noon and Mr. Jessup himself found the same and reported it to me. I advised Mrs.Stewart that I had nothing whatever to do with this matter farther than to follow instructions given me by the Las Yegas Land and Water Company which were that I was to see to it daily that they received through the weir 4 inches and any further complaint that she had to make would have to be communicated to you. Mindly advise me how to act in this matter. Yours very truly,
