Water from Middle Spring is subject to eontamin-ation by vegetable matter, and because of the wide area, is also subject to the more serious contamination by animal organisms, and if used, the State Board of Health requires that the water be properly treated. To Introduce the treatment {either hypoehloride or chlorine in solution) to the intake line of the pump and pump direct into the collecting line to the settling basin and reservoir would only permit of about three minutes for the chlorine to take effect before extensive dilution. If organisms are there, this method, while much cheaper, would certainly not accomplish the purpose• If the water requires chlorinating {and we are satisfied that safety requires this be done) we should provide for twenty minutes retention for the chlorine to accomplish Its purpose, and we have so designed. In addition to this, we have provided for the installation of an asphalt covered floor in the spring house to meet requirements of the State Board of Health. Item 2. While we have an iron post, wire mesh fence around the reservoir, wind collects tunbleweeds against the fence. These weeds, becoming ignited and with a high wind, would create the hazard of cinders igniting the roof of the reservoir. In the event of such a fire the only present means of fighting It would
