Mr. A. 1. Stoddard - Omahai (00 - Mr. V. R. Bouse • Omaha Mr. V. 1. Bui slier - Omaha Mr. X. X. Bennett • Loo Angeles) Please refer to your letter to as dated September 10, 1952, file 199, and ay reply of September 19th relative to proposed separation of Operating Department's water supply from the LVLAWGo. operations at Lae Yogas in view of proposed sale to the Lae Yogas . Valley Water District} Sou that we have reached agreement with the Mater District on the purchase by the District of these water facilities and formal contract Is now being drawn up for execution by all parties concerned, it would appear that ve should proceed with the separation of these water facilities. I am informed that Division recommendation for 1953 Budget to drill l6H water well in shop grounds, install 300,000 gallon elevated water tack, booster pump and pipe lines was included as Item Bo. 15 in the approved Budget and that the Division submitted form 30 estimate on January lh, 1953* requesting expenditure of $122,000 of which $117,5^0 Is chargeable to Investment and $AA60 to Operating Expanses. To date, the Division has not received approved work order to cover. It is my recommendation that immediate steps be taken to transfer the 2.5 o.f.s. appropriated, by LA&SLBBCo. from Moll Bo. 1 In the water field to the existing well in the shop grounds which should bs consummated before the sals of properties to the Las Ysgas Vatsr District. I also recommend that the Division be immediately authorised to proceed with the construction of 300,000 gallon water tank, installation of booster pump and changes in pipe lines as covered by approved 1953 budget Item Bo. 15, but the drilling of the new 16" proposed standby wall should be deferred until after the sale of prep-arti ee to the Voter District. Ve should net drill another well at this time because of the position we have taken opposing additional walla in the water field. After the Division forees lowered the pump column in the existing well in shop grounds to a depth of 165 feet and the well was test pumped it developed a maxima production of 520 gallons per minute. The requirements for Railroad use and supplying Pacific fruit Express Company is estimated to be 200 gallons par minute so W $ R . L . A . JP & WAR 20 1953 | J Lot Angeles * March 19, 1953 1-733** E.
