‘ ’ (COPT) ^ j LAS VEGAS LAND & WATER COMPANY. Las Vegas, Nev., Deo. 9, 1913, Mr. H. 0. Nutt, Pres., L.V.L.& W,Co., Los Angeles, Cal, Dear Sir.: I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter under date of December 4 in reference to loan J. M. Heaton and in reply to same would state that I believe we are so far committed that it would be almost impossible for us to cancel the agreement as Mr. Heaton has signed the agreement in good faith and there has been a deduction made from his salary for both October and November and deduction bill has gone into the auditor's office for the month of December. This loan was approved of by me after talking with you only because of Heaton's excellent service while with this company. In the number of years I have been here I have seen so many agents make a failure of handling their work and since Mr, Heaton has been here he lias been handling the work, I believe, regardless of any personal feeling, I am sure there will be no other similar case come up as the only one I know of was the Liday case and I did not nor would not approve that but I would very much like to see the Heaton loan go through as it has now been started and agreements have been signed up. Mr, Heaton has been paying since October, 6$ interest on this loan and also 10$ interest on the same loan to C,E*M. Beall and I would ask that if the loan goes through, you will kindly see that Mr, Beall gets his check as soon as possible so as to relieve Mr. Heaton of paying double interest. Yours truly, (signed) Walter R. Bracken.
