Commissioner Moore moved the application of Pearl C. Caster, The Pie Pan, 1602 Fremont for a Restaurant Beverage liquor license for the second quarter of 1951 be approved subject to investigation by the Police Department. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following votes Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Moore moved the application of Pauline Remmert, Alpine Village Inn, 903 North 5th Street for a Restaurant Beverage liquor license for the second quarter of 1951 be approved subject to investigation by the Police Department. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Moore moved the following requests for partial payments on Assessment Districts be approved, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign the warrants when issued; District No. 100-3 WELLS CARGO, INC. $ 5,459.02 District No. 200-1 N. P. VAN VALKENBURGH 12,675.60 Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole passed his vote. Commissioner Bunker moved the request of Wells Cargo Inc. for payment of $5,213.40 as payment in full for paving streets in the Cemetery be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign the warrant when drawn. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time Mr. Elwin Leavitt, attorney for Dr. Darryl N. Leavitt appeared before the Board regarding Dr. Leavitt's business license. Mr. Leavitt stated that the Doctor has no dental equipment at his home, and has only performed emergency work there in the past. Commissioner Bunker moved this matter be dismissed. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole moved the requests for zone variance in the Wardie Addition and Boulder Dam Homesites No. 3 Addition be referred to the City Manager, and if after checking are found in order, public hearings be set for these rezonings. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time Mr. Jerry Mack of the Beverly Green Tract No. 2 appeared before the Board requesting permission to vacate a certain street in this subdivision. Commissioner Bunker moved the public hearing for this vacation be set for June 6, 1951 at 3:30 P.M. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried, by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time residents of the Buena Vista Addition appeared in behalf of their petition against D. L. Dawson for maintaining a nuisance. Commissioner Moore moved this matter be referred to the City Manager to instruct the Health Department to take immediate action. Commissioner Peccole introduced and moved the adoption of the following ordinance: EMERGENCY ORDINANCE DECLARING THE DETERMINATION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, TO MAKE CERTAIN PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS IN SAID CITY BY PAVING, CURBING AND GUTTERING AND INSTALLING 70’ OF STORM SEWER ON CERTAIN STREETS AND PARTS OF STREETS THEREIN, TO CREATE STREET IMPROVEMENT ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 100-9 FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING SAID IMPROVEMENTS; AND TO DEFRAY THE ENTIRE COST AND EXPENSE THEREOF BY SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS MADE ACCORDING TO FRONTAGE; FIXING A TIME IN WHICH PROTESTS AGAINST THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS OR THE CREATION OF SUCH DISTRICT MAY BE HEARD AND CONSIDERED BY SAID BOARD; DIRECTING NOTICE THEREOF TO BE GIVEN; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO. Commissioner Whipple then drily seconded the motion to adopt the foregoing ordinance. The question being upon the adoption of said ordinance, the roll was called with the following result:.
