Cragin at the hour of 3:30 P.M. with the following members present: Commissioners Moore and Whipple. Absent: Commissioners Baskin and Clark. Also present: City Manager J. M. Murphy, City Attorney C. Norman Cornwall, and City Clerk Shirley Ballinger. PROPOSED ORDINANCE An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 308, Fire Prevention PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION, PROVIDING OFFICERS THERE­FOR AND DEFINING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES, AND PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS FOR FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY IN CONNECTION WITH HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND PROCESSES; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION AND REPEAL OF ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, was read to the Board by title and referred to Commissioners Moore and Whipple for report. PROPOSED ORDINANCE An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE LICENSING, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REGULATION AND REVENUE, Solicitors and SOLICITORS AND CANVASSERS, AS HEREIN DEFINED, IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; FIXING THE FEES Canvassers THEREFOR THE OTHER CHARGES IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO, was read to the Board by title and referred to Commissioners Moore and Whipple for report. PROPOSED ORDINANCE An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE LICENSING, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REGULATION AND REVENUE, Transient Merchants TRANSIENT MERCHANTS, ITINERANT MERCHANTS, AND ITINERANT VENDORS, AS HEREIN DEFINED, IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; FIXING THE FEES THEREFOR AND OTHER CHARGES IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RE­LATING THERETO, was read to the Board by title and referred to Commissioners Moore and Whipple for report. PROPOSED ORDINANCE An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE LICENSING, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REGULATION AND REVENUE, Peddlers PEDDLERS, AS HEREIN DEFINED, IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; FIXING THE FEES THEREFOR AND OTHER CHARGES IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 160 AND ORDINANCE NO. 213, AND ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND OTHER HATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO, was read to the Board by title and referred to Commissioners Moore and Whipple for report. AGREEMENTS — Commissioner Whipple moved that the agreements with the State Highway Department in con­st. Highway Dept. nection with the Charleston Boulevard drainage project be approved and the Mayor and City Charleston Blvd. Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Baskin and Clark. There being no further business to come before this special meeting this meeting adjourned. ATTEST: APPROVED: City Clerk Mayor Las Vegas, Nevada September 22, 1948 A regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners held this 22nd day of September, 1948 was called to order at the hour of 2:30 P.M. with the following members present: Commis­sioners Baskin, Moore and Whipple. Absent: Mayor Cragin and Commissioner Clark. Also present: City Manager J. M. Murphy, City Attorney C. Norman Cornwall, and City Clerk Shirley Ballinger. ACTING MAYOR PRO TEM Commissioner Moore moved that in the absence of Mayor Cragin and Commissioner Clark, Mayor Pro Tem, Commissioner Whipple be appointed as acting Mayor Pro Tem. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Moore and Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Cragin and Commissioner Clark. PAYROLL WARRANTS Commissioner Moore moved that Payroll Warrants Nos. 1598, l604, 1610 to l6l7 inclusive in the net sum of $26,l66.49 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Moore and His Honor Acting Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Cragin and Commissioner Clark. SERVICE & MATERIAL Commissioner Baskin moved that Service & Material Warrants Nos. 1605 to 1607 inclusive in WARRANTS the amount of $17,470.98 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same.
