TIERl/Goal 1: Yucca Mountain - stop the federal government's efforts to dump high-level nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain. Objectives A) stop congressional efforts to pass legislation that would help Yucca Mountain be the nation's nuclear repository. Strategy 1 ensure that the next President continues to oppose any Yucca Mountain enabling legislation. Strategy 2 ensure that the House Democratic leaders continue to oppose any Yucca Mountain nuclear waste legislation. B) find an alternative method of disposing of high-level nuclear waste that is benign for the environment, cost-effective, and prevents weapons proliferation. Strategy 1 support a research and development program that would ... TIER2/Goal 3: Environment - protect the local environment to help make the Las Vegas valley a cleaner safer place to live. Objectives A) ensure a quality water supply for southern Nevada. Strategy 1 work on solidifying the deal to get more water from the lower basin by accessing surplus water from Arizona. Strategy 2 develop a multi-state water partnership, supporting the fine work of our local, state and federal officials.
