Las Yegas - June 19, 1953 cc: E. E, Bennett Yesterday, June 18, I received an anonymous telephone call from some woman who claimed to be a resident of property adjacent to Paradise Road just Northerly of the Southerly City limits and who complained that the Wells-Cargo Company had a continual stream of tank trucks taking water from the fire hydrant in front of her property which was being hauled to the race track now under construction in County territory. She also complained that every time they opened the fire hydrant, pressure dropped in her house and that the tank trucks had created a bog in the street adjacent to the fire hydrant. She also stated that her neighbors were very much concerned and planned to block the fire hydrant if this, the present situation, continued. Mr, Wm. Reinhardt - Los Angeles After investigation, I find that the Wells-Cargo Company is not now hauling water from this fire hydrant but is obtaining their water from a well In County territory back of the Sahara Hotel. However, this morning a County watering truck was taking water from this fire hydrant for the purpose of settling the dust on Flamingo Road about a mile or so South of the City limits, I contacted Mr. Rodney Colton, Clark County Road Commissioner, and advised him that in view of the present water shortage and restrictions which are now In effect on the use of water, he should arrange to obtain his water for road sprinkling purposes from some source not connected with the City water supply. Mr, Colton was very cooperative and agreeable and promised to have his department immediately discontinue taking water from the fire hydrant mentioned above for sprinkling purposes and stated that he would discuss this matter with the other road commissioners at their next meeting which I understand will be held tonight.
