I agree.TO: ALL DEPARTMENTS 6/17/68 FROM: CARL COHEN SUBJECT: NOTICE OF SPECIAL EVENT: SPORTSMEN1S AWARD DINNER AND TELECAST On Saturday, June 29th, we will stage a dinner and telecast of the 2nd Annual Sportsmen?╟╓s Club Awards for the benefit of the City of Hope. Following are the important details: 1. On that weekend, we will have about 600 guests from the Sportsmen?╟╓s Club occupying about 300 rooms. 2. Present will also be 12 famous athletes, each chosen as the most outstanding in the history of his sport: Sam Hanks, Auto Racing Johnny Weissmuller, Swimming John Wooden, Basketball Jesse Owens, Track & Field Tom Harmon, Football Carl Hubbell, Baseball Vicki Draves&j Diving Henry Armstrong, Boxing Gene Sarazen, Golf Maurice Richard, Ice Hockey Henri Cochet, Tennis 4 Leroy ?╟╓?╟╓Satchel?╟Ñ Paige 3. The dinner and telecast will be held in the Sands Grand ballroom - times and specifications will be forthcoming. 4. The color telecast will go into Los Angeles on KTTV from 8:30 to 10:00 PM. There are'-quits, a ;few other details such as rtoming lists and types of accomodations, physical stage arrangements, and the handling of the large group who will be coming in starting Thursday, June 27th. Mr. A1 Freeman will coordinate and direct all activities on this special event, and all questions should be directed to him.
