Material for 5 candidates was submitted to the Corporate Office on February 7, 2000. The Far Western Regional Director, replied to correspondence forwarded by this Advissor as to the status of the proposed MI? scheduled for March 3-5, 2000. On March 1, the Regional Director informed this Advisor that two of the candidates did not answer question 2 on the Affirmation Statement and the revised Membership Interest form had not been signed which requires a signature from those candidates under the age of majority which she stated was 21. The forms must be completed with the appropriate signatures and forwarded to the Corporate Office. Due to the work schedules, exams, and spring break MI? is tentatively scheduled for the first weekend in April should the paperwork be approved in time.
Plans are underway for Skee Week, a week of activities on the campus to promote the international program targets and social activities for the students. The week will begin March 19, 2000 by attending a church service together. The Church attended will be Victory Baptist Church. A schedule of activities are forthcoming via e-mail or you call the Chair of the week soror Simone Tyree.
Kappa Xi took members of the Charles I. West Middle School roller skating and to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch on February 21, 2000. A great time was had by all. The next scheduled activity is a workshop on economic empowerment. There will also be a poetry contest.
Thank you to soror Terri and soror Quinn for attending “Pay Attention To My Wisdom” with Kappa Xi in my absence. Also, thank you to those sorors who sponsored Kappa Xi Founder’s Day Luncheon tickets.

Kappa Xi had it’s first meeting for the Fall Semester on September 8, 2000. They meet the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month on the campus of UNLV in the Moyer Student Union at 7:00 p.m. A special thanks you to Soror Jacqueline Hall for attending the second meeting in my absence. The next meeting is tomorrow October 8,2000.
Kappa Xi participated in the NPHC “Break the Ice Week of activities.” The week was to welcome new and returning African American students to campus. The week consisted of a forum, park clean up, feeding the homeless, a mixer and attending a church service. Kappa Xi provided a door prize of educational supplies. Attendees were able to apply for scholarships.
Kappa Xi participated in Student Organization Fairs and Premier UNLV. They also welcomed students back with caramel apple pops.
Due to graduation, Kappa Xi has three active members. They are Soror Ashley Tisdale, Soror SiMone Tyree, and Soror Katrina Dunn. Soror Ranada Coleman was the Basileus of Kappa Xi and her term was to end December 2000. Telephone calls and correspondence was not responded to and she has not attended any of the meetings this semester. As a result, Soror SiMone Tyree is acting Basileus.
The Graduate Advisor is requesting the assistance of the graduate chapter to actively participate and support Kappa Xi and to lend a helping hand wherever necessary. To this aim, their e-mail addresses and addresses will be added so that they are able to feel connected to the sorority and stay informed of the activities taking place. Mentor forms are also available for those interested in serving as mentors now or in the future. A special thanks you to Sorors Billie Rayford, Dawn Barnes, Ethel Archibald, and Quin Rivers for sponsoring the undergraduate’s registration for cluster.
Soror SiMone Tyree is the Cluster representative for Kappa Xi and Soror Ashley Tisdale is the Founder’s Day representative.
Kappa Xi hosted a health workshop, “Sister 2 Sister.” Topics discussed included safe sex, warning signs and red flags for dating, healthy life styles, contraception, monthly breast exams, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and utilizing the health services center on campus. The workshop was presented by a soror who is a Nurse Practitioner on campus. Special thanks to Soror Shawna McNair for attending.
They created a chapter newsletter and website to inform people of the activities they are sponsoring on the campus and in the community. The website address is www.geocities. com/Kappa_Xi
Kappa Xi did not want to have MIP this semester. They felt that they were not prepared and needed to strengthen the chapter prior to bringing in new members. The Graduate Advisor addressed Kappa Xi’s concerns with the Regional Director. Per the Regional Director, MIP will take place this semester as previously scheduled. Kappa Xi has struggled with numbers and the chapter has been and remains in jeopardy. Rush is scheduled for 6pm Sunday, October 15, 2000 in the Moyer Student Union. G> pm

Kappa Xi was on Spring Break for a week during the month of March. Skee Week was held March 19th through the 26th. The display case in the Moyer Student Union was decorated with AKA pictures and paraphernalia. The activities held included attending Victory Baptist Church (the Black Family), a 50/50 raffle (Economic Empowerment), poetry reading at Cafe Roma (the Arts), and health awareness and apple day (Health).
In celebration of March being designated as Women’s History Month, Kappa Xi created a display. The display was set up in the Moyer Student Union and featured women’s health issues. Handouts were given out to students.
Kappa Xi participated in UnityFest. They designed and displayed a banner with the Founder’s. They also sold peach cobbler as a fundraiser during the activities.
Soror Shawna McNair will attend a greek convention in Santa Clara, California. Soror Shawna McNair and Soror Ranada Coleman will serve as delegates for the 2000 Far Western Regional Conference in May.
Kappa Xi held a mini retreat. The Myers-Briggs test was completed, team building, sisterly relations, and strengths and weaknesses of the chapter were discussed. Dinner was prepared by Soror Wilisha. The members of the chapter expressed their desire to make the commitment to make the chapter continue to thrive on the campus of UNEV.
The Aid forAids of Nevada (AFAN) annual AIDS Walk will take place April 9, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. Kappa Xi will be participating once again and would like to extend an invitation for Theta Theta Omega members to walk with them as a joint project to continue to bridge the gap between undergraduates and graduates. The walk begins at Macy’s at the Fashion Show Mall to the New York New York Hotel and back to Macy’s. A sign up sheet will be circulated so the information can be forwarded to AFAN.
This week the chapter received verbal approval to move forward with the Membership Intake Process(MIP). MIP will take pace April 14-16, 2000. For details, contact the MIP chair, Soror Shawna McNair at 895-5234.
Soror Simone Tyree completed the Field Registrar training and the chapter is planning a voter registration drive for high school students who are 18. Kappa Xi donated money to the Nevada Girls State Program to assist in defraying the costs to sponsor a young lady for the program.
I move that Theta Theta Omega donate $ 100- OO to the AIDS Walk.
