Chuck Barris Productions 1313 north vine street hollywood, California 90028 469-9080 June 16, 197 2 Mr. Al Freeman c/o Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Al: As per our phone conversation this morning, here are some of the particulars you requested concerning your involvement in our proposed Grand Prix Professional Tennis Tournament. Buddy Granoff mentioned that you and he had discussed the, Hotel as the site, since it has both tennis courts and bleachers for spectators. Adequate spectator facilities are important because the receipts will naturally defray some of our overhead. For Grand Prix sanction, the USLTA requires that a tournament be comprised of sixty-four players. Therefore, it is necessary to provide lodging and perhaps two meals a day to the participants involved. Un-married players generally share rooms, while married players sometimes are accompanied by their wives. It's a toss up. You should plan on providing at least seventy rooms at the beginning of the tournament. However, as the tournament progresses, and players are eliminated, they will often leave the city with their rackets between their legs. As far as the dollar/cents aspect of housing the participants, that's more up your alley than mine, but fifteen thousand dollars sounds within reason. Where publicity is concerned, we had hoped that you could handle the Vegas area, while we here at Chuck Barris Productions would take care of all other publicity. Obviously Al, this is only a sketchy breakdown, and should we all decide to proceed, it is imperative that we sit down and contractually come to agreements of individual obligations.
