MINUTES Las Vegas, Nevada October 23, 1959 A regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, held this 23rd day of October, 1959, was called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: (The regular meeting to be held October 21, 1959, was changed to this date by resolution adopted at a Special Meeting of the Board of City Commissioners held October 15, 1959.) Mayor Oran K. Gragson Commissioner William H. Elwell Commissioner E. W. Fountain Commissioner Harris P. Sharp Commissioner Reed Whipple Acting City Manager Robert D. Heath City Attorney Calvin M. Cory Public Works Director Richard P. Sauer Deputy Planning Director Donald Saylor City Clerk Marjorie Holtschlag Absent: City Manager A. H. Kennedy Planning Director Franklin J. Bills CONNIE MORMON His Honor Mayor Gragson opened the meeting stating he would entertain a motion Child Nursery to cite Connie Mormon to appear at the hour of 8:00 P.M. at the regular meeting Operator of the Board of City Commissioners to be held November 18, 1959, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, to show cause, if any she has, why her licenses to Cited to Show operate child nurseries should not be revoked. His Honor further stated this Cause action was being taken because of information from the operator that children with a contagious or communicable disease were being kept on the premises, and for non-cooperation with officials of the City, insufficient adult supervision and improper treatment of children. Commissioner Whipple moved Connie Mormon be cited to appear at the hour of 8:00 P.M. at the regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners to be held November 18, 1959, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, to show cause, if any she has, why her licenses to operate child nurseries should not be revoked, and that the City Attorney transmit written charges to Connie Mormon as instructed by the Commission. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor Mayor Gragson voting aye; noes, none. PAYROLL WARRANTS Commissioner Fountain moved the Regular Payroll Warrant Nos. 41349 - 41906 in the net amount of $83,992.69 and Overtime Payroll Warrants Nos. 41907 - 41921 Approved in the net amount of $192.31 for the pay period October 1 - October 15, 1959, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor Mayor Gragson voting aye; noes, none. SERVICE & MATERIAL Commissioner Elwell moved the Service & Material Warrant Nos. 3037 - 3206 in WARRANTS the amount of $131,571.06.be approved. Approved Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor Mayor Gragson voting aye; noes, none. MINUTES Commissioner Whipple moved the minutes of October 6, 1959 (Special Meeting) October 6 ( Special and October 7, 1959, be approved by reference as corrected and the Mayor and Meeting) and City Clerk authorized to sign same. October 7, 1959 Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Approved Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Whipple and His Honor Mayor Gragson voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp passed his vote.
