Las Vegas - June 5, 1950 W 2 » 2 Mr* Wm. Reinhardt: ( ec Mr, E, E, Bennett ( co Mr, R. L, Adamson Supplementing my letter May 26th regarding temporary contamination of the water mains apparently emanating with the production from the Big Spring, City Manager Shelley, Dr. Carr of the Board of Health, and Mr, Dagles of the Public Health Service called at the office this afternoon and inquired whether arrangements were being made to chlorinate all of the water supply, I advised them that we were now operating the chlorinator in the Big Spring, and would continue to do so until such time as pump house in the Middle Spring was complete at which time the chlorinator would be moved to the open spring. Both Dr, Carr and Mr. Dagles expressed their opinion that all of the water delivered to the city should be chlorinated so that at least 2/10 PPM would show up at the outlining districts of the city. He suggested the automatic flow type of chlorinator be installed so a proper proportion would be maintained both during daylight and night hours, and suggested these chlorinators be located at each of the three settling basins in order that we might be thoroughly protected in case of a recurrance of recent unfavorable reaction, which he said resulted in a number of cases of dysentery which caased him considerable worry. Will appreciate your advice. A. JUN 7 1950 L. C. C. w: h x JUN 8 1350
