Cohen, Carl, 1913-1986
Description
Carl Cohen (1913-1986) was a gaming executive in Las Vegas, Nevada who served as vice president of the Sands and MGM Grand hotel-casinos. Cohen was born February 15, 1913 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away December 26, 1986 in Las Vegas. He began his career in Las Vegas in the early 1940s and became part owner of the El Rancho in 1943. In 1967, while Cohen was manager of the Sands, he was involved in an incident with Frank Sinatra that is well-known in Las Vegas lore. During an altercation about casino credit Cohen punched Sinatra in the face; not long after, the performer moved his show to Caesars Palace.
