Irene N. Chenin haS lived in Las Vegas since July 1951. She came to join her husband, Dr. Joseph Chenin, who was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base as a dentist during the Korean War. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sept. 3,1926. Irene was very active and volunteered her time, energy and service to the state of Nevada and the cities of Las Vegas and Henderson. She was past president of the Clark County Dental Auxiliary Society and also appointed to the city of Las Vegas Beautilication committee. Irene was cdso a member of the Commemorative & Beautification Commission for Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and a member of the President Club of UNLV in the 1970s and 80s. Irene was a major contributor in the building funds of both Temple Beth Shalom and also Congregation Ner Tamid. She was a former publicity director for the Las Vegas Art League and also opened her first picture frame company in 1965. Irene won many awards and ribbons for her artwork and has more than 100 paintings in collections worldwide.
