Prouty, Jed, 1879-1956

Description

Jed Prouty was an actor appearing in over one hundred films between the 1910s and 1950s. Born on April 06, 1879 in Boston, Massachusetts, Prouty ran away from home as a child to join the circus, first appearing on stage in the Boston Museum at fifteen years old. He later performed vaudeville before appearing in silent films including the Marhall Neilan-directed and produced Everybody's Acting (1926), a film later acquired by Howard Hughes. His later career predominately involved the Jones Family films including Every Saturaday Night (1936) and The Jones Family in Big Business (1937), as well as minor roles in other films including A Star is Born (1937).

Prouty died on May 10, 1956.
