Born as one of four children in Manila, Philippines, Minddie and her siblings were raised by their paternal grandmother and her sisters (the Three Lolas) in the Philippines when her parents took jobs in New Jersey. After the children joined their parents, the family moved to California, where Minddie suffered abuse and subsequently lived in several foster homes and a girls' home, Olive Crest. It was through Olive Crest that Minddie met her mentors, Bruce Layne, Roy Woofter, and Thalia Dondero and came to Las Vegas in 1995, where she worked with the airlines. After getting to know undercover Metro police officer, Erik Lloyd, while he was on a job, the couple married in 1998. After a work-related injury ended her airlines career, Minddie began supporting the Injured Police Officers' Fund. In addition, in 2008, Minddie founded Bamboo Bridges, a not-for-profit organization that aids families and women afflicted with abuse and trafficking. In July 2020, Minddie was hospitalized with COVID-19, as was her husband. The day Minddie was discharged, Erik went into cardiac arrest and subsequently died. Minddie was raised Catholic, but after Erik's death, she converted to the faith of her husband, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
