Hinkle, Robert, 1930-

Description

Robert Hinkle is a semi-retired film actor, director, and producer known for his roles in westerns. He also worked as a stunt actor in films such as the Howard Hughes-produced The Conqueror (1956). Born on July 25, 1930 in Brownfield, Texas, Hinkle first worked in rodeos before he accidentally coming on set of the Universal Pictures film Bronco Busters (1952), where he was scouted as a cowboy stunt actor. Hinkle performed stunts in films between the 1950s and 1960s, and later directed the dialgoue for Giant (1955), coaching James Dean to speak in a Texan manner. Following Giant, Hinkle began directing and producing films, television shows, and music videos. Hinkle co-wrote an autobiography in 2012, and currently resides in Texas.
