Description

Gina Lollobrigida is a retired actor active between the 1940s and 1960s who later worked as a photojournalist and sculptor. She was born July 04, 1927 in Subiaco, Italy as Luigina Lollobrigida. While attending the Academy of Fine Ats at Rome, Italy to study sculpting and painting, talent scouts convinced Lollobrigida to try acting. She debuted in Aquila Nera (1946) and placed third in the Miss Italia pageant in 1947. After receiving international attention, American businessman and film producer Howard Hughes attempted to sign Lollobrigida into a binding Hollywood contract, resulting in a prolonged legal battle and delaying her Hollywood debut for approximately a decade.

After her film career, Lollobrigida's continued in other fields such as photojournalism and documentary film making, executive management in fashion and cosmetic companies, sculpting, politics, and activism.
