Edward Gildea deCorsia was born September 29, 1903 in New York, to vaudeville performers Edward deCorsia and Helen Le Sage. In 1924 deCorsia began work in radio, working for a company of players that included Orson Welles. In the late 1940s, Welles, who had moved into Hollywood film, asked deCorsia to take a role in the former's film The Lady From Shanghai (1948). By the time he appeared as Kumlek in Howard Hughes' The Conqueror in 1956, he had established his credits as a solid supporting actor. In the 1960s, deCorsia moved into television, appearing in a number of popular programs until his death in 1973.
