Lloyd, Frank, 1887-1960

Description

Frank Lloyd was a Scotish-born film director and co-founder of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was born on February 02, 1888 in Glasgow, Scotland before moving to London, England to performed musical comedies and operettas in theaters. In 1909, he arrived in Canada to work installing telegraph lines before returning to stage plays. In 1913, he moved to Hollywood, California, where he proceeded to direct dozens of films during his career. Of his films, he directed the Howard Hughes-produced film The Age For Love.

Lloyd died on August 10, 1960 in Santa Monica, California.
