Film editor Paul Weatherwax was born on July 08, 1900 in Constatine Township, Michigan to Carrie Carpenter and Lewis Edwin Weatherwax. Weatherwax was drafted into the military out of Indianapolis, Indiana in 1917. He moved to Los Angeles, California in in 1920. Weatherwax entered th film industry in 1928 as a film editor, and continued until his death. He won two Oscars for Best Editing for The Naked City (1948) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1956). Weatherwax worked on Howard Hughes' film Vendetta (1950) as a film editor, and even stepped in to direct when Stuart Heisler became sick.

Weatherwax married once to Esther Lucille Wigney, and the two remained married until Wigney's death on May 31, 1956. Weatherwax died four years later on September 13, 1960 in Los Angeles.
