Buckley, Harry Douglas, 1887-1955

Harry Douglas Buckley was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1887 and by the age of twenty-one was the manager of two of the city's theatres. After serving in WWI, Buckley joined the newly formed United Artists Theatre Group, first as branch manager of the Kansas City Exchange and later the branch manager of the Los Angeles Exchange. He resigned to become the personal and business manager for Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, but later returned to join the corporate ranks of United Artists Theatre Circuit, Inc. At the time of his death in 1955, he was vice-president and member of the board of directors of that organization.
