Born into a musical family in Russia, Constantin Bakaleinikoff immigrated to the United States with his brother Mikhail (Mischa) in the aftermath of the Bolshievik Revolution. Both brothers found steady employment as independent composers in the major Hollywood studios. Constantin Bakaleinikoff started working as senior musical director at RKO Studios about 1940 and continued in that role until 1956. Over the course of his career, he composed scores for over forty feature films, established and directed orchestras for numerous theatres in Los Angeles, and directed both the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Burbank Symphony orchestras. Bakaleinikoff died in 1966.
