Lawyer and politician Alan Bible was born in 1909 in Lovelock, Nevada and served as a United States Senator from Nevada and as Attorney General of Nevada. Bible studied at the University of Nevada, Reno before earning his law degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. After returning to Nevada, Bible worked for United States Senator Pat McCarran. Bible served as Deputy Attorney General from 1938 to 1942, and then as Attorney General from 1942 to 1950. In 1954, following McCarran's death, Bible filled McCarran's Senate seat. He was reelected in 1956, 1962, and 1968, serving in the United States Senate from 1954 to 1974. Bible died in 1988.
