University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) professor, John C. Kepper, graduated with a PhD from the University of Washington in 1969. He began teaching at UNLV in 1973 as a professor of geology. Kepper later became chairman of the department of geoscience. His research included studies on stratigraphy and sedimentary petrology. Kepper performed his research throughout the Great Basin area, primarily in Nevada and Utah. Kepper was a member of the Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and Geological Society of America.
