Schlegel, Rob, 1954-

Description

Robert "Rob" Schlegel is a Las Vegas, Nevada editor, publisher, realtor, and supporter of the LGBTQ community. Schlegel was born in Port Angeles, Washington on April 7, 1954. He first studied at Tacoma Community College in Tacoma, Washington before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1975. He worked for the Valley Times as the production manager and became active in politics. He then worked at the Nevada Gay Times beginning in 1985, later changing the name to the Bohemian Bugle in 1986 and Las Vegas Bugle in 1988. Schlegel opened and managed the Bright Pink Literature bookstore in 1987 and created a separate publication Night Beat in 1992. Schlegel sold Night Beat in 1996. He co-founded the Las Vegas Gay Pride in 1983 and the Southern Nevada Association of Pride, Inc. He also worked in the Gipsy nightclub as a secretary.
