Faiss, Robert D. (Robert Dean), 1934-2014

Robert D. Faiss was born September 19, 1934 in Centralia, Illinois. While best known as an attorney for the past four decades, Faiss began his career as a journalist and served as city editor at the Las Vegas Sun in the 1950s. He went on to work for Nevada Governor Grant Sawyer as chief executive assistant from 1963 to 1967. In 1968, Faiss served as a White House staff assistant to President Lyndon Johnson. Honored as a "Distinguished Nevadan" in 2013 by the Nevada Board of Regents, Faiss took great joy in mentoring others in the legal profession. He was an adjunct professor in gaming law and policy since 2001 at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an instructor in gaming law for the National Judicial College. At the 2013 Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, Faiss was honored by his peers for his "extensive contributions to gaming law" by the International Association of Gaming Advisors.

Faiss passed away in Boulder City, Nevada on June 4, 2014.
