Jelindo Angelo "J. A." Tiberti (1919-2006) was known as one of the most successful real estate developers in Southern Nevada. Tiberti had many titles, such as the chairman of the board of J. A. Tiberti Construction Company, Inc., the president of BAT Rentals, Inc., and the head of the Tiberti Family Foundation. He served on the City of Las Vegas Planning Commission for twenty-five years and was on the Board of Directors Nevada Power Company for thirty-six years. He was an active member of the community by serving on the Las Vegas Rotary Club, the Catholic Dioceses of Las Vegas Finance Committee, the Associated General Contractors of America, the Nevada Society of Professional Engineers, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Palladium Society, and the UNLV Foundation.

J. A. Tiberti was born in Morley, Colorado on April 8, 1919. He attended Kalamazoo College in Michigan from 1936 to 1938 and the University of Southern California’s School of Engineering from 1938 to 1940. In 1914, Tiberti arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada as an engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers. Together, they developed a U. S. Army gunnery school that is now known as the Nellis Air Force Base. He then met his future wife Marietta Tiberti at the boarding house in which he had stayed. They had six children together: Tito Tiberti, Laura Tiberti, Andra Maffey, Renaldo Tiberti, Mario Tiberti, and Jelindo Tiberti II.

Tiberti then established the J. A. Tiberti Construction Company in 1950. Known for shaping Las Vegas’ landscape, the construction company built eleven hotel casinos, ten UNLV buildings, forty-five Clark County public schools, thirty-five construction projects for the Las Vegas Valley Water District, and multiple commercial and industrial developments. The Tiberti organization features a construction unit, a real estate and investments division, a management company, and a fence division. His business sits on the road that he had built and named, Industrial Rd.

In 1972, Tiberti was named Southern Nevada’s Engineer of the year and the Most Distinguished Nevadan in 1987. He received an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada in 1989 and was inducted to the Nevada Business Hall of Fame in February, 2004. Tiberti passed away May 3, 2006.
