Description

Christie Young was a prominent member of several LGBT community organizations in Las Vegas, Nevada. Young was born on July 12, 1956 in Reno, Nevada. She moved to Las Vegas in 1982 from Reno, Nevada. Once in Las Vegas, she joined many LGBT organizations, including the Lesbian and Gay Academic Union, Voices, and the Metropolitan Community Church. She was also instrumental in the creation of the precursor to the Community Counseling Center and Dennis McBride's efforts to collect and archive LGBT community publications. Young left Las Vegas for San Diego, California in December 1985, but returned in 1995.
