Levy, Al, 1933-1997

Description

Al Levy was born August 28, 1933 in Los Angeles, California and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1943 at the age of ten. He earned a degree in business from the University of Southern California and moved back to Las Vegas after college to help manage grocery stores owned by his father. After 10 years of working in grocery stores, Levy left the business and started Levy Realtor Company. In 1978, he was elected to the Ward 1 seat of the city commission, which was later renamed the Las Vegas City Council. Levy served three terms, until 1987. He also served as president of Las Vegas Board of Realtors and president of the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees). He was active in multiple organizations, including the Masonic Lodge of Las Vegas Scottish Rite, the Zelzah Shrine Temple, the Rotary Club, and the Boy Scouts. Levy passed away June 14, 1997.
