Barry W. Becker’s father was a well-known land developer and real estate broker throughout the Los Angeles area. Howard Hughes told Barry’s father to purchase all the land they could in the West Charleston area of Las Vegas which initiated Becker Enterprises, Incorporated, in Southern Nevada and brought Barry and his family to the area in 1971.
Becker Enterprises developed from 2,500-3000 acres in the West Charleston area in addition to building Arizona Charlies as well as numerous homes, and apartments. In his mid-twenties, Barry came to Las Vegas and worked by doing the underground construction of sewers and waterlines, meeting with inspectors, getting bond releases, and supervising grading and installation of all underground work. He was also responsible for various other projects regarding Becker development.
After he married, Barry and his wife, Sue, moved to the West Charleston area of Las Vegas. He lived in the original Charleston Heights area with his family but eventually moved to Rancho Bel Air.
