Byrne, Grace Winkleman, 1908-1964

Grace W. Byrne was the news editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Henderson” page for twelve years, from 1946 to 1958. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 4, 1908, Byrne was an active member of the community in Henderson, Nevada and Las Vegas, Nevada.

In addition to her editorial duties, Byrne served as the area representative for the Nevada Tuberculosis and Health Association and was a committee member of the Industrial Days festival in Henderson, Nevada. She was the first secretary of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. After retiring from the newspaper business, Byrne worked as the personnel director for the Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital. She died at age 56 on November 10, 1964 after an illness.
