Russ (Russell Donald) Freeman was a bebop and cool jazz pianist and composer, well-known among jazz musicians, and a frequent collaborator with some of the most famous musicians in the genre like Chet Baker, Andre Previn, and Shelly Manne. Freeman worked as a music director, arranger, and composer for television shows in the latter part of his career. His compositions and arrangements for television shows were recorded in Las Vegas, Nevada and Freeman was often the pianist for some of the shows. Freeman retired from playing piano in 1982 and in 1987 retired from the music scene all together. Freeman died in Las Vegas on July 27, 2002.
