Pichot, Mary Kozlowski

Mary Kozlowski Pichot was born on October 23, 1939 in Town of Lake, Wisconsin to parents George and Mary Kupec. She was an American environmentalist and activist and she worked to preserve various areas such as Red Rock Canyon and Tule Springs.

She attended St. Mary's Academy, Marquette University for college, and then she graduated from the University of the State of New York. She then married Walter Kozlowski and they both moved to Mercer Island, Washington. Later on in 1961, the two decided to migrate to Las Vegas, Nevada and Kozlowski was named "Nevada's Women at the Top."

Kozlowski has witnessed a wide variety of accomplishments during her time as an environmentalist. Some of these accomplishments include being the first president of the Archaeo-Nevada Society and becoming the chairman of the Citizens Advisory Boards for Transportation and Beautification in the city of Las Vegas. Some awards that she was given also include Nevada Wildlife Federation Award for Outstanding Water Conservationist of the Year and she was chosen for the First 100 Project. An essential contribution of Kozlowski was how she helped eradicate polio. She was even awarded with the Paul Harris Fellowship for eradicating polio. Kozlowski was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was 50 and died at the age of 81 on October 24, 2020.
