Leon and Norma Friedman, who were married in Pittsburg in 1957, enjoyed civic work, travel and raising their two children, Jodi and Brad. Leon kept active until his passing in 2004.
In 1973, Leon Friedman’s brother-in-law Oscar Alterwitz suggested that the Friedman brothers, Leon and Jerry, join him the purchase of a retail furniture store called Walkers Furniture. Discouraged by the deteriorating future of Gary, Indiana, the business environment of Las Vegas offered a new and invigorating opportunity. July of that year, the Friedmans and Alterwitzes arrived in Las Vegas.
Leon and his wife Norma, and their two children quickly made the city their home. He became active in the Jewish Federation, his temple and also served on the board of the Better Business Bureau.
