Weinberger, William S., 1913-1996

William S. "Billy" Weinberger (1913-1996) was president of Caesars Palace in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also president of Bally's Park Place casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the 1970s and 1980s and ambassador emeritus for the Golden Nugget and the Mirage in Las Vegas in the 1980s and 1990s.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 8, 1913, Wienberger moved to Las Vegas in 1966. After working as the food and beverage director for Caesars Palace for two years, he was elected president in 1968 by the hotel's board of directors. In 1977, he left Las Vegas to serve as president of Bally's Park Place casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but returned in 1988 at the request of Steve Wynn to act as ambassador emeritus for the Golden Nugget and later the Mirage. Weinberger was active in charitable and community organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the United Way, and Bluecoats Inc. (a program that assisted families of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty). He also served as chairman of the Las Vegas Jewish Combined Appeal and was a member of the board of directors of Temple Beth Sholom.

He passed away on August 8, 1996.
