Congregation P’nai Tikvah (Las Vegas, Nev.)

Congregation P’nai Tikvah, formerly known as Valley Outreach Synagogue, is the only congregation in Nevada affiliated with the Reconstruction and Renewal movements of Judaism. Located in Las Vegas, Valley Outreach Synagogue was founded by Rabbi Richard Schachet in 1993. In 2005 he retired and Rabbi Yocheved Mintz became spiritual leader of the congregation. Reconstructionism views Judaism not just as a religion, but as an entire culture, which evolves over time and continues to be shaped by tradition. As a Reconstructionist community, P’nai Tikvah values the democratic process, pluralism, and accessibility. The congregation is also inspired by the renewal movement, which seeks to reinvigorate all denominations of modern Judaism with mystical, Hasidic, musical, and meditative practices.

P’nai Tikvah is a warm and welcoming, progressive, egalitarian, and pluralistic congregation focusing on the spiritual, educational, and social well-being of those who wish to live a fulfilling and meaningful Jewish life. –Mission Statement, 2015
