American Association of University Women. Las Vegas Branch

The Las Vegas Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) was founded in 1940 with the purpose to “unite graduates of regionally accredited institutions in order to promote equity, education, intellectual growth, individual worth, and development of opportunities for women and girls.” The Las Vegas branch members have been involved in many national and community issues over the years. Some of the major programs have dealt with Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), Get Out the Vote, Grass Roots Lobby Day at the State Legislature, public education about environmental issues, child care facilities, voting campaigns, teen pregnancy, and scholarships for students. AAUW Las Vegas members meet monthly and participate in various interest groups.
