Jerome Alexander Zawada was born on April 28, 1937, in East Chicago, Indiana.
Zawada earned a bachelor of arts degree in College Seminary. He also studied theological studies and Spanish studies. He attended St. Francis College in Burlington, Wisconsin, and Christ the King Seminary in West Chicago, Illinois.
Zawada was a Franciscan (Catholic) Priest that focused on justice and peace involvement. He resided at the Nevada Desert Experience for some time. He has previously done some parish work and was a missionary in the Philippines for 6 years.
