Morrison, Jane Ann

Jane Ann Morrison transferred to Las Vegas from Fort Smith, Arkansas, where she had worked as a newspaper reporter. The Donrey Media Group owned the Southwest Times Record newspaper in Fort Smith along with the Las Vegas Review Journal. In 1976, she became a night cop chasing stories that required a police response. Three years later, Jane Ann went over to the Nevadan, a portion of the paper that allowed a more in depth reporting style.

George, Dorothy O'Donnell, 1921-2008

Dorothy O’Donnell George was born in 1921 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. After serving as a nurse in World War II in Hawaii, Okinawa and Japan, George returned home. She experienced a particularly bad winter and set out for California, but stopped in Las Vegas, Nevada to visit the family of her traveling companion, a girlfriend from her hometown. George applied for a nursing license, got it three days later, and never returned to Wisconsin.

Jim Hodge was born May 31, 1927 in Ashville, North Carolina. Born and raised in the South, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17, just as World War II was winding down. His primary job was that of a cook.

Leo Borns, Jr. was born November 27, 1931 and was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He, along with his wife, Sue Borns, came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1962 to begin an architectural career that would last forty-four years in Southern Nevada. Borns worked for various firms in Las Vegas, before developing a reputation as “F. Borns, Architect.” He has gone on to design buildings for state public works, Clark County, Nevada, the City of Las Vegas, Clark County School District, churches, and private home owners.
