Abstract

The Elsie and Richard Goldsworthy Collection on Las Vegas Ephemera (1960-1999) contains ephemera from hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada and includes programs, table tents, and postcards. There is additional material created by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and invitations to special events hosted by various Las Vegas dignitaries. Additional materials includes programs and fliers from local theater companies in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Abstract

The Frederic Apcar Collection on the Casino de Paris Show (approximately 1963-1992) contains Casino de Paris programs, tent cards, and promotional information. There are also three Dunes Magazine: A Guide to What's Happening NOW that feature Casino de Paris on the cover. Apcar was the producer and director of the show which appeared exclusively at the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Description

On February 18, 1951, Fred Wilson interviewed Mary Ellen Osborn Lake (born 1870 in Mercer County, Missouri) and her son, Thomas Lake (born 1889 in Missouri). Wilson first asked Mary Ellen questions about when she first arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1904. Much of the relatively brief interview involved questions related to the first Methodist churches in Las Vegas and the Lakes’ involvement and recollections of the locations and members of the church community.

Oral history interview with Larry and Juanita Barr, with Steven Gibson conducted by Margery Waters on March 27, 1976 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. The Barrs and Gibson talk about African Americans in Las Vegas, Nevada, working on the Hoover (Boulder) Dam, living in tents, early entertainers, and early development in Las Vegas.
