Per patron comments, this home was one of two twin houses that stood next to each other on Knob Hill in Rhyolite before it was moved to Beatty. Patron also commented that Jesse Christensen was the Beatty postmaster, and that an outline of the Exchange Club is visible on the right. Caption: Home of Jesse Christensen. Freight team leaving Bullfrog, Nevada, December 1, 1905. There is an inscription on the back of the photo: "Headed for Goldfield, 65 miles to the north. Bullfrog was founded after the discovery of gold in the area in 1904. By 1907 Rhyolite, the tent camp at the left in the picture, had become the city of the district with a population of over 6000. The boom was over by the end of 1907." There is a date stamp: 1980.

The woman featured here is either Mrs. Heisler, a sister to a gentleman who was at the Rhyolite Railroad Depot, or Mrs. Moffatt - - probably Mrs. Heisler. Fred Davies' dog, Boots, is also pictured. Probably late 1930s or early 1940s, somewhere in Nye County, Nevada.
Francesca Graglia was born in Italy in 1877. She was an early resident and entrepreneur in Las Vegas, Nevada, along with her husband Joseph. She moved to British Columbia, Canada from Italy with Joe Graglia, and the family later moved to Rhyolite, Nevada in 1908 and Las Vegas, Nevada in 1911. Graglia helped her husband operate his many businesses, ranging from the Union Hotel and Bar, Pair o’ Dice Nite Club, and National Hotel, all located in Las Vegas. Francesca Graglia died in Las Vegas in 1941.
From the Nye County, Nevada Photograph Collection (PH-00221) -- Series III. Beatty, Nevada -- Subseries III.B. Lisle Family. Jimmy is the son of Chloe and Ralph Lisle. The Beatty Town Hall is visible in the distance. The hall was originally the Miners' Union Building in Rhyolite, Nevada, and was moved to Beatty. The Beatty Police Station and the Fire Hall now sit at the approximate location of this old Town Hall.
The Ralph Roske Photographs (approximately 1917-1989) depict life in rural Southern Nevada and newspaper clippings from the Goodsprings Gazette. The collection consists of thirty-five images dated from 1917 to 1989. The images consist of unidentified Nevadans, Las Vegas landmarks, and members of the McAllister family in Carraca, Nevada.
Horse drawn stage leaving Tonopah for Manhattan, circa 1905. There was an inscription on the image. "The coaches were the primary mode of passenger transportation between central Nevada's early mining camps. They were eventually replaced by railroads which built into Rhyolite, Goldfield, Tonopah, and Blair, but served the area's smaller satellite camps until the mid-1910's when the automobile took their place. The photo was reproduced from an original 1905 colored postcard."
A panoramic photo of the Bullfrog Mining District taken in 1906 by well-known Rhyolite photographer A. E. Holt. Written on negative by Holt: "Panorama looking north west from Shoshone Bullfrog Gold property showing country east of Montgomery property." Image also names five mines with corresponding numbers which locate the mines on the photo. Those listed are: "1. Montgomery Shoshone, 2. Lucky Jack, 3. Red Oak, 4. Pittsburgh, and 5. Shoshone Bullfrog Gold."
