The Art Rader Photograph Collection on Nevada Railroads depicts railroads, mills, and depots in Nevada and Southern California from 1905 to approximately 1975. The photographs primarily depict the remnants of the Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad, the Pacific Coast Borax Company, and obsolete tracks, buildings, mills, and boxcars from the early-twentieth century. The photographs also depict depots and railroad intersections in Death Valley Junction, California and Crucere, California, and the photographs include the Union Pacific Railroad's tracks that were once part of the Salt Lake Railroad.

Located within the far northern region of Death Valley in Grapevine Canyon, the Death Valley Ranch, more commonly known as Scotty's Castle, is a prime example of Spanish-Mediterranean styling during the Roaring 1920s and Depression of the 1930s. Death Valley Scotty was a prospector, performer, and con man who was made famous by his scams involving gold mining near Death Valley. The petroglyph-covered rock beside Death Valley Scotty was designed by Native Americans who inhabited the valley hundreds of years ago. Transcribed across the bottom of the image: "The world's most hospitable host, Death Valley Scotty," Scotty's Castle, Death Valley, Calif."
This collection contains the original drafts of the thirteen essays that Elizabeth Harrington wrote about her life in early Las Vegas, Nevada. These articles were written from her memory and experiences of life in Las Vegas beginning in the early 1900s, and were published in the Nevadan section of the Las Vegas Review-Journal from 1975-1979.
The Las Vegas and Tonopah Railroad Blueprints consists of twenty-four of the original thirty blueprints as part of the Interstate Commerce Commission (I.C.C.) Valuation Index Section I. They are labeled "Right-of-Way & Track Map, Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad" and dated June 30, 1915. The blueprints contain four miles of railroad lines per sheet with a scale of 6 3/4 inches per mile. The collection also includes one sheet from the Bullfrog Goldfield Railroad company, which used the track, yard, and facilities of the Las Vegas and Tonopah and Railroad company between Beatty and Goldfield, Nevada.

The other depot in Rhyolite (still standing) was made of rock and owned by the Las Vegas and Tonopah Railroad.
