Sabbath, Roberta

Roberta (Sterman) Sabbath is an Assistant Professor of English in Residence at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and an active member of the Las Vegas, Nevada Jewish community. Sabbath was born on December 23, 1943 in Richmond, Virginia. She received her bachelor's degree in French from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1965 and married Dennis Sabbath in 1967. The couple spent two years in Chicago before moving to Kodiak, Alaska in 1969, where she started an adult basic education program and a youth program.

Zenoff, Moritz "Morry", 1910-1996

Moritz "Morry" Zenoff was editor and publisher of Boulder City News and Henderson Home News in Southern Nevada. He also founded and published the Nevada Jewish Chronicle. Born in Amhurst, Wisconsin on June 3, 1910, he is the brother of Nevada Supreme Court Judge David Zenoff. Morry Zenoff moved to Southern Nevada in 1948 and bought the weekly Boulder City News. In 1950, he established the twice-weekly Henderson Home News. During the 1950s he founded a local radio station and a local television station (KSHO Channel 13), both of which he sold by 1960.

Bassewitz, Hugh L.

Dr. Hugh L. Bassewitz is an Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon and has been a partner at the Desert Orthopaedic Center in Las Vegas, Nevada since 2000. Bassewitz received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland and is a past president of the Nevada Orthopaedic Society. He was named by his peers as one of Las Vegas' top doctors in 2006, 2012, and 2014 in Las Vegas Life and Seven magazines. Bassewitz is also active in the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas and served as a member and as chair (2012-2014) of its board of directors.

Wilner, Martin S.

Martin Wilner was born March 14, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to Leo Wilner, an Executive Director at Temple Beth Sholom. He was raised in California, but earned his doctorate in psychology at the University of Houston, Texas. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1963 and became a counselor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Soon after moving to Las Vegas, Wilner met Linda at a Jewish Singles event. They were married on December 22, 1974 and they adopted a son, Robert, to raise with Linda’s two other kids from a previous marriage.
