The black and white view of Howard Hughes' Lockheed 14 aircraft after performing its final landing on the Round the World flight at Floyd Bennett Airport, New York. Description printed on photograph's accompanying sheet of paper: "Journey's end for world fliers! Floyd Bennett Airport, N.Y.--- The plane which carried Howard Hughes and four companions on their dramatic dash around the world, is shown shortly after it landed here at the conclusion of the flight. Crowds swarmed about the craft as the fliers hesitantly prepared to leave the ship. 7/14/1938."

Description given with photo: "Hughes Holds Press Conference After Arrival, New York -- Mustached Howard Hughes stands alone as he is interviewed at Laguardia Airport late Sept. 11 after his arrival from Kansas City only recently recovered from injuries sustained when a plane he was testing crashed, Hughes flew to New York to confer with attorneys regarding the banning of a film he produced. Description given with photo: "Non-Stop Los Angeles - New York Flight Inaugurated New York -- View of the crowd around the "Star of California" waiting for passengers -- most of them after it landed at LaGuardia Airport Feb. 15. Piloted by Howard Hughes, famed Around-The-World record holder and a TWA executive, the flight in-augurated non-stop schedule between Los Angeles and New York. The TWA Constellation made the trip in 8 hours and 38 minutes, as compared with the record of 7 hours, 27 minutes. Credit (ACME) 2/15/46."

Howard Hughes sitting inside the Lockheed 14 aircraft in New York. Typed on a piece of paper attached to the image: "Hughes' Paris hop delayed by motor trouble. New York City-- Howard Hughes, millionaire oil man and speed flyer, in the cabin of his huge Lockheed plane as he waited impatiently for a crew of mechanics to repair one of the motors so that he could take off for Paris. He was forced to give up his plans to leave on July 9th when mechanics found that it would be impossible to change the 18 cylinders of his motors in time. Crews worked all night at the job. Rough spots were found in the cylinders during fuel consumption tests. Credit Line (ACME) 7/10/38 Burs SF."
